Tango, Gypsy and Folk

Hi folks, and welcome to the Zigatango website! As you may know, Zigatango specialises in fiery gypsy music and Argentinean tango, taking on a youthful approach to reworking classic songs from these two genres, especially those by famous composer and performer Astor Piazzolla. The Perth based musicians, all still in their twenties enjoy presenting their unique arrangements of traditional world music in a fun and accessible way, sometimes even accompanied by dancing or juggling.

2009 has been an exciting year for Zigatango kicking off with our Tasmania tour performing at The Cygnet Folk Festival, as well as recent successful shows at Kulcha, the Floreat, Darlington Festival and of course the fiery night of music and dancing at the Fly By Night club. We look forward to bringing you many more tunes in the new year.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their tremendous support during 2009 which saw plenty of ziggy dancing, laughs and fine music. Thank you also to all those who have come to a Zigatango performance and showed such enthusiasm and appreciation for our music!

We have an exciting summer program schedules including shows at XWray Saturday 16th Jan, Australia day long weekend tour through Denmark and Albany, finishing with our January finale at Kulcha on the Saturday 30th, with support by the Whistling Dogs. We really hope to see you again soon and have a wonderful Christmas break.
